    Wire mesh unfurls in seconds. Rebar must be cut, placed, tied and hoisted into place.

    Corrosion Resistance

    Rebar has a much longer lifespan against rust, particularly epoxy coated rebar. Wire mesh is thinner so will erode quicker if water intrusion occurs.

    Which One Should You Actually Choose?

    Honestly? This is where most homeowners get bad advice.

    The correct answer varies based on your circumstances. It’s not what your neighbour did. And it’s not what someone on a random forum post claims worked for them.

  • How thick will your slab be? Less than 100mm thick, use mesh. Greater than 125mm thick, use rebar.
  • Which vehicles will drive on it? Light cars = mesh. Heavy utes, RVs and caravans = rebar.

  • How much money do you have to spend? Wire mesh will run you significantly less money.
